Do I call the police?
There is very little damage to my car. Is it okay to exchange insurance information?
I am in in a hurry. Can I deal with it later?

Grants from Kentucky Office of Highway Safety to Aid in Traffic Enforcement-Kentucky Accident Attorney DATE: October, 2009 LOCATION: Warren County, Logan County, Franklin and Russellville Kentucky TYPE: The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety has issued grants to law enforcement agencies to enforce traffic laws in an attempt to lower the number of serious and fatal accidents.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police Department and the Russellville Police department were all awarded grants from The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety to enforce traffic laws.
With the money from the grants each of these departments will now be able to pay for more overtime hours for their officers, purchase radar detectors, breathalyzers and in-car cameras. With these additions and the presence of the officers on the roadways it is the hope that there will be safer driving resulting in fewer crashes. It could conceivably make a huge difference in several lives.
According to the Office of Highway Safety the numbers of highway fatalities have fluctuated greatly over the last 10 years. The goal is to continue to bring the number down, particularly in the rural areas where there is a high rate of fatal crashes.
These are important grants and will help keep the roads a bit safer but there is still the responsibility on the driver to keep the speed down, wear a seatbelt and be aware of their surroundings. Be safe, be aware.

Kentucky auto accident attorney addresses misconceptions in injury cases.
There are many misconceptions about personal injury cases. One of these myths is “The Insurance Company Will Give Me a Reasonable Offer if I Just Call Them or Write Them a Letter”.
The insurance company of the person that caused the accident, or even your insurance company, if the at-fault party didn’t have insurance, is not trying to pay you a settlement that you deserve. They are not trying to give you fair compensation for your injuries. The insurance company wants to pay you as little as possible. Many insurance companies have written policies describing how to minimize your settlement and how to keep you from hiring an attorney. They want to convince you to accept a low ball offer to settle your case.
This step by step process can include what the insurance adjuster actually says to you. They will tell you that they are working for you or that if you hire an attorney that they will not settle your case. An adjuster may even get a bonus if they keep the settlement under a certain amount of money. There is reason why almost all of the skyscrapers in the big cities have either the name of a bank or an insurance company on them. You should always speak with an attorney who concentrates in personal injury law before accepting a settlement offer. Get advice to make sure the offer is fair and reasonable and that you are not being taken advantage of.
One of the more difficult parts about being in an accident is trying to make sense of what is happening with your case. There will be several people and agencies involved and they all have their own goals. Your goal is to reach a fair and just settlement while the goal of the insurance companies is to pay as little as possible.
I just posted an article on my site that outlines the game plan that the insurance companies follow to reach their goal. As an attorney that practices in this arena I have seen first hand on many occasions the games the insurance companies play, at your expense. In this article I have added what you, as an accident victim need to do to get your fair and just settlement.
If you are a resident of Kentucky and have been in an accident please read this article so that you will be better prepared when you have to battle the insurance industry for justice.
