Lowery’s condition
According to UK offensive coordinator, Neal Brown, Lowery has lost some weight. Though there are scars on Lowery’s arm, Brown pointed out that Lowery is lucky to be walking around. He added that Lowery is eager and he thinks that the football player is feeling better. Lowery continues to recover from his injuries. Though he is taking classes now, there is still no definite timetable for his return to the playing field. However, Brown said that the Wildcats are cautiously optimistic that Lowery will play again.
Lowery’s accident
Lowery was involved in a single-car accident on May 4, 2013 and was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was in “critical but stable” condition. Though there were no bones broken, Lowery had severe cuts and suffered from neck, left wrist, hip and leg pain. According to the investigators, Lowery lost control of his car and the vehicle flipped several times. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Let’s be reminded by Lowery’s tragic accident of how important it is to buckle up. Wearing your seat belt is the simplest and most effective way of protecting yourself from injuries.
I am glad that Ashely Lowery is feeling better now, and I hope for his full recovery. Yes, it is good to be back, but there is no need for Ashely to rush. Playing a sport too soon may lead to poor performance or even worse, re-injury. I’m glad he is back and can get back to a normal routine. Hopefully he’ll remember to buckle up from now on when he goes for a drive.
