Cell phones are everywhere, and there is no doubt that they are useful. However, there are certain places cell phones should not be used, and one place is in the car while you are driving. Texting while driving will never be safe.
Distracted driving has a big impact on our lives. This is especially true for those who have been involved in a distracted driving accident. They fully understand how dangerous distracted driving is after being involved in an accident. Just by being on the road and driving, we are already putting others’ lives in our hands. So, we need to pay attention to the road when we’re driving. This will help lower the risk of accidents.

Distracted driving statistics
Also, according to the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety, Kentucky recorded more than 52,500 collisions where distracted driving was noted as a factor in 2013. Of all those crashes, 9,000 were left injured while 163 were killed. Although these numbers represent only 43% of the total crashes and 25% of the total fatal crashes on Kentucky roads last year, it’s still too high. We don’t want any of our family and friends getting hurt. We want all of them to be safe.
Idaho distracted driving accident
In 2012, 3,328 died due to distracted driving crashes. Authorities and concerned organizations are working together to try and decrease those figures. They hope to teach all drivers how dangerous texting while driving is, especially for new drivers. Even victims of distracted driving accidents are helping raise awareness. One of them is 31-year-old Ashley Zumbrunnen from Idaho.

Ashley was involved in a car accident four years ago. While driving and texting her husband, her car drifted into the other lane. She then over-corrected and lost control of her car. The accident left her partially paralyzed. Zumbrunnen went to rehab and recovered well.
As a Kentucky Accident Attorney, I encourage you to take this crucial step and stop distracted driving. We can all start by putting our cell phones away while we are driving. We need to be 100% focused while behind the wheel. It could mean the difference between life and death.
