The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Health Canada and Midwest-CBK announced a voluntary recall of Monkeez & Friends Wrist Rattles and pairs of baby booties. The products involved are more than 10,000 wrist rattles and 11,000 pairs of baby booties in the United States and 600 wrist rattles and 700 pairs of baby booties in Canada.
The wrist rattles and the booties are made of knitted yarn and attached are monkey head and a pom-pom that were manufactured in China. The pom-pom attached can detach presenting a choking hazard. There was a one report of a pom-pom detaching from the wrist rattle and no injuries have been reported.
The recalled products were sold by Gift stores, drug stores, decor outlets and variety stores nationwide from June 2009 through March 2011. The wrist rattles were sold for about $5 and the booties for about $13.
If you have one of these Wrist rattle and baby booties, immediately discontinue using the product and return it to the store where you bought it or to Midwest-CBK for a full refund.
