Thursday evening around 8:00 Louisville Metro Police stopped a vehicle in Sheppard Square on the suspicion it was stolen. The officer had called for back up then pulled the car over. As the officer approached the 1991 Honda Accord the car drove off. A brief pursuit followed, according to police the pursuit was approximately 5 blocks and ended when the Honda lost control and hit a tree.
Three of the occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, another died at University Hospital and the fifth occupant was taken to University Hospital with what has been reported as serious injuries. The identities have not been not been released as police report most of the passengers appear to be juveniles.
This was a single car accident and no officers were injured in this incident. The investigation is still on-going.
