FrontLoader Upright Bike Mount Recalled by Yakima

Spring and summer are the best time to have an outdoor fun.  It’s the time that most family outings are expected and relished.  Whether it be a vacation on a beach island or just a simple dry picnic on parks, moments are surely cherished.  This is also the time when we see a lot of bikers pedaling on mountain trails or simply around the neighborhoods here in Kentucky and everywhere.

 

But,  important information was released last April 28, 2011 about a recall of FrontLoader top of car bike mount by Yakima Products.  A small number of units that have malfunctioned are those that are shipped to dealers from March 2010 through December 2010.  In these instances, bikes have become loose or have been forced out from the bike mount.  The issue has been addressed in the current generation of the Frontloader that began shipping in February 2011 and is currently in retail outlets.  Fortunately, there have been no injuries as reported related to this malfunction.

FrontLoader that are part of the recall can be identified through examining the front wheel loops.  The original design has four wheel position options which is part of the recall.  Current FrontLoader units which have five position options are not part of the recall.  Yakima is replacing defective products at no charge to consumers.  They are asking you to remove these products from your vehicle.  Call Yakima customer service 1-888-925-4621 or email frontloaderrecall@yakima.com.
