Early Thursday morning 18-year-old Chelsea Stinnett was on her way to pick up a friend before going to school when she was involved in an accident that took her life. The driver of the other was taken to University Hospital where the degree of his injuries have not been released. Where the accident occurred is on a rural road and there is a sharp curve.
Chelsea’s mother is an EMS worker and part of the first crew responding to the scene. This tragedy is what all emergency workers have nightmares about. Responding to a scene only to realize once there that the victim is a family member or friend. Once officials in surrounding found out about the tragedy they sent crews to help the Meade County EMS.
Chelsea was heavily involved in both athletics and academics at Meade County High School where all are grieving the loss. "Chelsea was just a super person," said Meade County High Basketball Coach Josh Hurt. "She was such a ray of sunshine for our whole community, for our team and for our school. She was so involved and so enthusiastic - so positive - with the people around her, with the coaches and teammates and fellow students. She was outstanding in every way."
