About 76,000 Infant Bed-Side Sleepers manufactured by Arm's Reach Concepts were being recalled on Tuesday.
The bed-side sleeper is a free-standing bassinet that attaches next to an adult bed, allowing the parent to be in arm's reach of baby during sleep. When the fabric liner is not used or is not securely attached, infants can fall from the raised mattress into the loose fabric at the bottom of the bed-side sleeper or can be entrapped between the edge of the mattress and the side of the sleeper, with risks of suffocation.
There were 10 reports of infants falling from the raised mattress into the bottom of the sleeper or becoming entrapped. However, no injuries have been reported.
The product involved in the recall is called a "co-sleeper" by Arm's reach Concepts. One side of the bed-side sleeper is lower than the others. All Arm's Reach Original and Universal Styles with manufacture dates between September 1997 and December 2001 are included in the recall. The sleepers were sold at Burlington Coat Factory, Babies R Us and other retail stores nationwide for about $160.
