April 10-16, 2011 National Crime Victims' Rights Week

The Office for Victims of Crime has helped lead communities throughout the country since the year 1981 through their annual observances of National Crime Victim's Rights Week.  It is done by promoting victims' rights and honoring crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf.

Victims of Crime includes those who are inflicted with pain, suffering, property loss, and physical loss due to domestic violence, sexual assault, drunk driving, elder abuse, robbery, and physical abuse. Each day, we encounter news reports about children, teenagers, adults and even elderly whether male or female as victims of crime. It has always been a struggle to diminish crime. Many Organizations are on their great effort to educate people of Crime Victims' Rights and protection to rebuild their lives.

This April 10-16 will be the observance of the next National Crime Victims' Rights Week. The theme for the NCVRW 2011 is "Reshaping the Future, Honoring the Past" with the theme colors teal, yellow, and black.

A 2011 NCVRW Resource Guide is available online which is designed to build public awareness on crime victim issues in local communities throughout the country. The Resource Guide can be useful in planning outreach efforts for National Crime Victims' Rights Week this April and throughout the rest of the year. The Guide includes educational content, campaign materials, artwork, and a theme video.

Let us be part of this National Crime Victims' Rights Week and let us reshape the Future and Honor the Past.
