Early Friday morning, June 28, 2008, there was a fatal car accident that happened at the intersection of Taylorsville Road and Chenoweth Run in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. The accident apparently occurred around 4:00 am when the driver of a Ford Explorer ran a red light and plowed into a Mitsubishi. Unfortunately, the driver of the Explorer died at the scene of the accident. One of the passengers of the Explorer was trapped under the wreckage and had to be flown by a medical helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. The driver of the Mitsubishi as well as a second passenger in the Explorer was taken by ambulance to the hospital emergency room for treatment and evaluation. At this point police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
Joe Lowe, a 56-year-old Louisville man was apparently hit Saturday night by an unidentified car and died Sunday morning. It is believed that Mr. Lowe was a pedestrian who was crossing Jefferson Street near 15th Street in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky shortly before 9:30 when he was struck by a car. He was transported to University Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky where he apparently died while in surgery from multiple blunt-force injuries he suffered in the auto accident. The exact details of the crash were not available as of Sunday. The coroner's office is looking for Lowe's next of kin. If you have any information that would be helpful please contact the Louisville Metro Police Department.
