Sunday, October 19 was a an almost fatal morning for a Berea woman. Amanda Parker and her husband Shannon were traveling on east Red Lick Road when the truck they were in dropped off the right shoulder of the road. In an attempt to regain control the driver overcorrected causing the vehicle to cross over into the westbound lanes before leaving the road. The truck overturned several times ejecting both the driver, Shannon Parker, and passenger Amanda Parker. The 1988 Chevy S-10 pickup truck landed on Mrs. Parker.
Mr. Parker who was injured was able to flag down another motorist to help. Jamie Neal along with his two teen age sons and Timothy Reardon were able to help pull the truck off Mrs. Parker. Mr. Neal and Mr. Parker performed CPR and mouth-to-mouth for approximately 15 minutes while they waited for emergency crews to arrive.
Mrs. Parker was flown by helicopter to the Lexington Hospital where she was listed in fair condition. Mr. Parker was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Berea where he was treated in the emergency room.
