Parents always want what is best for their baby. We prioritize an infant's safety. After al, a child is helpless and totally dependent on us. Video Baby Monitor is a product that parents purchase to make their lives easier and ensure the safety of their baby. The baby monitors should not be placed close to the baby's crib due to a strangulation risk.
There are reported incidents of infant strangulation with the electrical cord of Summer Infant video baby monitors since 2004. There have been seven deaths. On February 11, 2011, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety, together with Summer Infant Inc., announced the voluntary recall of 1.7 million video baby monitors with electrical cords. They also instituted provisions of a new on-product label with instructions.
The recalled products were sold for between $60 and $300 and were distributed between January 2003 and February 2011. There are more than 40 different models of the product, all video monitors include both the camera and the hand held device and the brand "Summer" can be found on the product.
This report should alert parents in Kentucky. If you have this product at home, immediately check the placement of your video monitors, cameras and electrical cords and make sure that they are out of your child's reach. Consumers of the product should contact Summer Infant toll-free at (800) 426-8627 from 8am to 5pm ET Monday to Friday or visit www.summerinfant.com/Home/Product-Recall.aspx for a new permanent electric cord warning label and revised instructions about the mounting of the camera and keep cords out of reach of your child.
Take this simple step if you have purchased one of these monitors and you can avoid a serious child injury accident or even a death.
