Speed and Rain Possible Cause In Truck Fatality

Speed and rain may have been the cause of an overnight fatality early this morning. The ramp from south bound Interstate 71 onto west bound Interstate 264 was the scene of a fatal accident where  58 year-old George Taylor died at the scene.  The accident happened around 3:00a.m. A tractor-trailer  driven by Mr. Taylor which was full of cargo turned over on the ramp killing him.  Police are still investigating this accident.

The fatality on the ramp was just one of several accidents that occurred this morning in the Louisville, Ky. area. None of the others have reported serious injuries.

These accidents include an injury accident on Bardstown Road at Village Drive. This is in the Highlands area. Another was reported on the 10200 block of Dixie Highway when a car struck a tree. This is in the area of Valley High School. Another tractor-trailer was involved in an accident on Interstate 65 in the northbound lanes. The tractor-trailer jack-knifed on the stretch of Interstate 65 known as "hospital curve". The highway was closed for several hours as the tractor-trailer was carrying diesel fuel and hazardous workers were dispatched to clean the spill. Shortly before 8:00 a..m. an injury accident was reported on Preston Highway at the I-264 ramp. It is not known how many vehicles were involved or the extent of the injuries.

Rainy conditions on the roadway is a perfect reason to drive slower and exercise more caution while driving. Wet roads can often times be slick.
