Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
If you read the
lyrics of our national anthem and got goose bumps or any other indication of national pride you need to make sure you put your flag out today in honor of all veterans.
Many think that a veteran is either someone who has been injured in military service, has retired from the service, has faced battle or has died defending our country. The actual
definition of a veteran is “a serviceman who has seen considerable active service”. There are many of those in our midst that we owe it to them to recognize their service and sacrifices. It is because of them when we hear The Star Spangled Banner we stand up and show respect.
Let’s put our Star Spangled Banners out today for all veterans.
