Recall Of Walkers Issued Due To Choking Hazard

It’s another recall from Toys “R” Us. This is not the first time that the toy retailer has recalled their products. In 2012, it made a voluntary recall of its Imaginarium 5-sided Activity Center due to choking hazard. At the beginning of 2013, it recalled its Nap Nanny Infant Recliners due to possible safety hazard. Now, Toys “R” Us has issued a voluntary safety recall of the Imaginarium Activity Walkers.

Imaginarium Activity Walkers recall
Toys “R” Us recalled about 9,000 units of walkers because the small bolt and spacer that attaches each front wheel can detach. This is a choking hazard for young children. The company has received five reports of the front wheels detaching but no child have been harmed.

Recall details
The recalled walkers have model number "Toys 'R' Us 5F5E972" and barcode number 3700217300319. The model number is printed on the bottom of the activity walkers while the barcode number is found on the bottom of the activity walker box. These walkers have a round wooden push handle on the top of a curved triangle-shaped wooden walker base with four wheels. The child walkers measure about 19 inches tall and about 13 inches wide and have a multi-colored xylophone with two triangle mallets, one multi-colored abacus and one scratch noise maker on the front of the walker. Imaginarium Activity Walkers were manufactured in China and imported by Toys “R” Us Inc., of Wayne, New Jersey. The walkers were sold exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores nationwide and online at www.toysrus.com from August 2011 to January 2013 for about $30.

What to do if you own this product
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recommends the customers to keep the walkers away from young children and immediately stop using them. This is to prevent the children from choking on pieces from the recalled products. Children are likely to swallow the bolt or spacer detaching from the walker and this may lead to suffocation or hospitalization.

Consumers are also advised to return the walkers to a Toys ‘R’ Us store for a full refund or store credit. If you have questions about this recall, contact Toys ‘R’ Us at (800) 869-7787 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, or visit the store's website at www.toysrus.com and click on Safety Information and Recalls. CSPC Consumer Information Hotline is also available.
