Pedestrian Killed by a Car in Hikes Lane Area
Monday at 12:30 in the afternoon, Norma McAuliffe living at El Conquistador Apartment complex was walking on the sidewalk on Hikes Lane lost her life at the moment when a car went off roadway and hit her. Jefferson Country Deputy Coroner Gayle Norris pronounced McAuliffe dead at the scene.
The blue Saturn Sedan was travelling west on hikes Lane near Breckenridge lane when the driver lost control of the car and struck four other westbound vehicles the rolled onto the sidewalk and hit McAuliffe. The blue Saturn stopped rolling after it struck a telephone pole.
The driver was brought to University Hospital with head injuries that do not appear to be life threatening according to the Police. No other injuries have been reported.
The Louisville Metro Police are still investigating the incident and have not determined what may have caused the Saturn to lose control. They are looking into why the driver lost control of the vehicle.
