Motor Vehicle Accidents on Kentucky Roads Cause Seven Deaths

Between the days of October 20th and October 26th seven people have died on Kentucky roadways. This brings the number of fatalities up to 630 for this year. Even though 630 is high it is lower than the number reported for this same time last year. At this time in last year 720 people had been killed on the roads of Kentucky.

Of the seven fatalities five were auto accidents. They occurred in Boone, Clark, Pendleton, Warren and Woodford counties. The investigations show that three of the victims were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accidents. Investigations also indicate that one of this accidents involved suspected alcohol use.

One fatality was a motocyclist in Rowan County who at the time of the accident was not wearing a helmet. Helmets provide added protection but do not always prevent fatalities. The other fatality was a pedestrian in Daviess county.

There are many actions we can all take to reduce the number of accidents and a common thread is being aware and alert when you are behind the wheel.
