TYPE The Metro Works employee driving the truck that struck and killed Darlene Brown has a history of accidents.
Last week was a devastating week for the family of Darlene Brown. She was killed in the parking lot of the Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management facility. The accident happened when Ms. Brown had gotten off the back of the truck and stepped in front of it. According to reports the driver of the truck, Victoria Townes did not see Ms. Brown and hit her causing her death.
Since the accident the investigation has revealed that Ms. Townes has a substantial history of accidents. Along with the history of accidents she was demoted for 30 days due to concern about her concentration while she was driving. Ms. Townes has also been reprimanded for failing to do the proper safety checks on her vehicle. The investigation into this horrible accident continues.
Based on Ms. Townes personnel file she has received many reprimands, warnings and disciplinary actions. My question is should she be responsible for driving and controlling such a large vehicle? My condolences continue to be with the Brown family in this time of sadness.
