Grants from Kentucky Office of Highway Safety to Aid in Traffic Enforcement-Kentucky Accident Attorney
DATE: October, 2009
LOCATION: Warren County, Logan County, Franklin and Russellville Kentucky
TYPE: The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety has issued grants to law enforcement agencies to enforce traffic laws in an attempt to lower the number of serious and fatal accidents.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police Department and the Russellville Police department were all awarded grants from The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety to enforce traffic laws.
With the money from the grants each of these departments will now be able to pay for more overtime hours for their officers, purchase radar detectors, breathalyzers and in-car cameras. With these additions and the presence of the officers on the roadways it is the hope that there will be safer driving resulting in fewer crashes. It could conceivably make a huge difference in several lives.
According to the Office of Highway Safety the numbers of highway
fatalities have fluctuated greatly over the last 10 years. The goal is to continue to bring the number down, particularly in the rural areas where there is a high rate of
fatal crashes.
These are important grants and will help keep the roads a bit safer but there is still the responsibility on the driver to keep the speed down, wear a seatbelt and be aware of their surroundings. Be safe, be aware.
