DATE: April 7, 2010
LOCATION: Central Kentucky
TYPE: Four young adults were killed when the car they were in drove off a cliff.
Kentucky State Police were called in to investigate a tragic accident in Central Kentucky on Wednesday morning resulting in the death of 4.
The accident occurred on Highway 11 in Lee County, south of Beattyville, Kentucky. The SUV driven by 35-year-old Alan Marcum traveling south hit another vehicle pulling out of the parking lot of a restaurant. Marcum’s vehicle then crossed over into the northbound lane striking a utility pole. The vehicle became airborne and went over an embankment striking a tree at the bottom.
The passengers of the SUV were all killed in the accident. They have been identified as the driver, Alan Marcum; Ronnie Herald, age 32; Sabrina Daluiso, age 25 and Jeremiah Freeman, age 25. Reports are indicating that excessive speed may have been a contributing factor. State police have also reported that none of the victims were wearing seatbelts.
This is a heartbreaking tragedy and my condolences go out to the family and friends of the victims in this case.
