Kentucky Fatal Accident Claims Life of Laura Pitman and Injures Denzil Pitman

TYPE:     Fatal accident in Pulaski County Kentucky takes the life of Laura Pitman and seriously injures her husband Denzil Pitman.

According to an eye witness early in the afternoon on Thursday a 1999 Mitsubishi was traveling down Highway 196 when the driver hit a ditch, then a mailbox, flipped several times before landing upside down.  Both the driver Denzil Pitman, and his wife, Laura Pitman were ejected from the car’s driver’s side.  Mrs. Pitman was pronounced dead at the scene while her husband was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital then flown to University of Kentucky Medical Center.

It has been reported that this particular part of the highway is curved and police are investigating as to whether speed may be a factor.  It also appears that some of the cars tires were bald and another was a much smaller replacement tire which may hamper the controllability of the vehicle.

It is as important to always important to drive in control of your vehicle, be aware of the activity around you but also to maintain your vehicle so it is safe.  We wish Mr. Pitman a speedy and complete recovery and extend our sympathies to the family.
