Kentucky Department of Transportation is Urging Motorists Slow Down in Work Zones to Prevent Accidents and Fatalities

Kentucky Department of Transportation Plea-Kentucky Car Accident Attorney
Date:   April 7, 2009
Location:   Kentucky Roads
Description: DOT plea for safety

During a news conference on April 7, 2009 the Kentucky Department of Transportation stressed the importance of drivers needing to reduce their speed and be more attentive while driving through construction zones.  This plea is part of an awareness campaign that is launched every year during National Work Zone Safety Week.  The goal is to promote safe driving through state construction zones.

Last year four people were killed in work zone accidents in Kentucky.  Throughout the nation there are over 40,000 injured in work zone crashed and approximately 85% of these were motorists.

The workers are on the road either making repairs or improving the quality of the road.  Their work will make the road safer for motorists.  With the weather getting warmer there will more of the workers on the road so please slow down and be aware of your surroundings.  Remember that while you are in a hurry to get home or to work these workers have a home they too want to get to.
