TYPE:    Second fatal crossover accident in two days on I-65

Another fatal crossover accident occurred on I-65 Saturday evening.  The accident occurred in Bullitt County near Brooks, Kentucky.  Jacqueline Keith, 37-years-old from Louisville, was traveling north when she crossed the median into the southbound lanes.  According to officials as a result of the crossover she struck a semi truck head on causing her to die instantly.  The driver of the truck suffered injuries as well but the injuries are reportedly non-life threatening.  There were no cable barriers installed on this particular stretch of the highway.

Friday morning another crossover accident on I-64 involved a semi that crossed the median hitting a van.  That accident resulted in the death of the truck driver as well as 10 occupants of the van.  The cable barriers were not able to stop the truck from crossing over.

This has been a devastating weekend for many families.  My sincere condolences go to the families and communities of those who have died.  I also hope for speedy and complete recoveries for those injured.
