Early Sunday morning in Gallatin County, Kentucky an automobile crash claimed the life of 62-year-old Judy Reynolds. The accident occurred at the intersection of KY 16 and Roberts Road.
Kentucky State Police reported that 55-year-old Eugene Reynolds was driving when he lost control of his car. The car left the road and was airborne before it crashed against a tree. Ms. Reynolds was trapped inside the car and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Mr. Reynolds was taken to St. Luke's hospital in Florence, Kentucky where he was treated for non-incapacitating wounds. State Troopers have charged him with second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence.
When I was a prosecutor I had the responsibility of prosecuting DUI offenders who were responsible for fatal accidents. Losing someone to in a fatal accident is devastating but when it could have been prevented it can be so much more painful.
