Three Family Members killed in a Crash in Elizabethtown Highway-Kentucky fatal accident attorney
A terrible accident happened Wednesday, early 3:25 a.m. that killed three members of a family returning to Chicago from a wedding in Florida. The Kentucky State Police said that a tractor-trailer collided the families SUV from behind and sent the vehicle out of control. The SUV rolled on northbound Interstate 65 just south of Elizabethtown ejecting several passengers.
According to Trooper Bruce Reeves, Investigators were still looking into what caused the FedEx truck to bump the Nissan Pathfinder. The wreck caused the death of Victor Chacon 26 years old, Brianna Chacon 10 years old, and Tatyana Alvarez 11 years old. The three of them were ejected from the vehicle.
The other family members were Melissa Gonzalez,30, the driver of the Pathfinder and the passengers Victor Chacon, 49; Yaznylie Chacon, 2; Victor Chacon, 5. The police said that Gonzalez and Victor Chacon senior were wearing their seat belts. Gonzalez was in a satisfactory condition while Victor senior was in serious condition at University Hospital. The two children were flown to Kosair Children's Hospital.
The truck driver George T. Grimes, 31-year-old from Louisville, was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt. He has undergone toxicology test at a local hospital, which is routine said Trooper Reeves. No charges have been filed in the accident. Authorities are investigating Grimes' driving records.
The collision caused closing of the I-65 north road, and the traffic was diverted to other road and reopened just before noon.
The accident is a devastating tragedy. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family.
