According to a Louisville Metro Police, 23 year old Dennis W. Tindle was driving his silver Ford Focus was headed north in the southbound lanes on Bardstown Road south of the Snyder Freeway in Fern Creek when he collided head-on with the red Dodge Durango The Durango was then rear-ended by a silver Chevrolet Camaro. Tindle was declared dead at the scene due to multiple blunt force traumas. The drivers of the Durango and Camaro were taken to the University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident occurred on March 4, 2011.
The Louisville Metro Police Traffic unit is investigating the incident as to why Tindle was going the wrong way on Bardstown Road. They are waiting on the results of toxicology reports to determine whether drugs or alcohol were the factors in the crash.
Several people called 911 according to Metro Police and the Courier Journal to report the Camaro travelling the wrong way on Bardstown Road. I commend these individuals for taking action that could have saved lives. It is important for us to be observant in these situations and take actions such as this to help prevent serious car accidents.
The accident totaled Tindle's Ford Focus was totally in wreckage after the car crashed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and to those involved.
