A fatal motor vehicle accident happened last July 15, 2011 at around two in the afternoon at 9711 Dixie Highway near Valley Station Road. According to Dwight Mitchell, a LMPD spokesperson that a red F-250 pick up truck was traveling south on Dixie Highway when the driver crossed the center line and struck a silver Dodge Intrepid that was traveling northbound.
It was found out that there were two people in the truck and three people in the Dodge. They were all rushed to University Hospital. Barbara Prince, 67, a resident of Mobile, Alabama, was the rear passenger who received fatal injuries and died at 2:43 p.m. in the emergency room of the University Hospital from multiple blunt force injuries. Luckily, the other four victims only sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The LMPD traffic is investigating the incident and states that alcohol or drugs are not pointed as factors in the accident.
Our prayers go out to Barbara Prince’s family and friends and so with the other victims that they have a fast recovery.
