Early Thursday morning on a rural road in
Meade County Kentucky 18-year-old Chelsea Stinnett was on her way to pick up a friend for school when she was involved in an accident which took her life. Meade County sent an available EMS crew to the scene, a member of the crew was Chelsea’s mother, who now is living out what every emergency worker fears and dreads.
Due the tight knit nature and family atmosphere of emergency workers once the EMS departments in surrounding counties heard of the accident they sent their own crews to help in any way they could. Emergency workers can work shifts of 24 hours which allows their families to know and become part of the whole “emergency community”. Everyone gets to know the spouses and children of the other workers. All Meade County EMS workers are grieving the loss of Chelsea and doing what they can to support her mother during this terrible time. My heart goes out to all who are grieving this loss.
