Deadly Holiday Weekend on Kentucky Roads

Apparently, this year's 4th of July weekend was a deadly one for six holiday travellers. Of the six fatal accidents three were car accidents. The motor vehicle accidents occurred in Grave, Harlan and Union counties in Kentucky. It is believed that one of the crashes had acohol involved. It has also been reported that another of the accidents the victim was not wearing a seatbelt.

Of the three other fatalities two of them were the result of All-terrain-vehicles. These accidents happened in Hopkins and Pike counties in Kentucky. In both ATV crashes alcohol use was believed to be one of the causes. Additionally, neither victim was wearing a helmet.

The other fatality was a which occurred in Jefferson County Kentucky on July 5th. David Mears, age 39, was driving a "cruising" type motorcycle when he lost control and crossed over into oncoming traffic. He hit a pick up truck head on and died at the scene.

It is always very important to be aware and cautious when driving but especially during holidays. This is when the roads are more crowded and people are in a hurry. There needs to be an extra amount of consideration and caution taken for your own safety when getting on the roads. Also, please remember not to drink and drive. This is a cause of many holiday accidents.
