A deadly accident happened on February 20, 2013 on Highway 393 in Crestwood, approximately a mile north of Centerfield Drive. According to police, John Alan Gebhart, 22, was traveling southbound on Highway 393. Gebhard lost control of his car and struck a guardrail. Reports have shown that Gebhart has suffered massive injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead on the scene when the emergency team arrived.
The LaGrange Police Department, together with state agencies, is conducting an investigation into the fatality accident. Police suspects that Gebhart was killed when the vehicle he operated suffered a loss of control or mechanical failure. Eyewitnesses are encouraged by the police to cooperate to have a clearer picture of the accident.
There were no other reports of injuries or fatalities resulting from the accident.
Gebhart attended Oldham County High School and worked at Costco. He loved music.
Kentucky State Police revealed in its latest accident report that through February 24, 73 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2013. This is 26 percent lower compared to the fatalities for the same period in 2012.
Motor vehicle accidents happen for several reasons and factors. These may have been the driver’s fault or not. In some occasions, the vehicle itself may be the root of the accident. Defective airbags, defective seat belts, tire failure, tire blowouts, and more can cause serious personal injury and even death to victims out on the roads. In most states including Kentucky, the party who may be held liable for defective motor vehicles are the vehicle manufacturer, the manufacturer of defective components, and the dealer, if the vehicle was bought from the same.
An experienced Kentucky car accident lawyer can help in this situation. In any auto product liability case, burden of proof is important. Having an experienced lawyer who knows the technical aspects of the automotive product is a must. It is best to have a lawyer who is skilled and knowledgeable about the way in which to gather evidence to effectively support the case.
My sincerest sympathy goes to Gebhart’s parents, John and Connie Gebhart and to the relatives, friends, and colleagues affected by this untimely death.
