Bardstown Road Trees Planted to Promote Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety

What do trees being planted along Louisville's Bardstown Road have to do with bicycle safety? Cindie Cooke of the Bon Air Neighborhood Association is the force behind the project that also memorializes the life of her friend Jen Futrell, who was hit by a van and killed last year while riding her bicycle home from work on Bardstown Road last year. What does Ms. Cooke hope the trees planted will do? Will this project make Bardstown Road safer? What are the long range goals of this project? I was fortunate enough to be asked to participate in the tree planting and meet the people involved and I believe their efforts will make Bardstown Road safer and help prevent bicycle accidents and pedestrian accidents in the future.
