The Kentucky State Police have released the statistics of motor vehicle crashes that occurred statewide in Kentucky for the year 2010. 147,507 motor vehicle accidents occurred in Kentucky last year. This was a slight increase from the 147,353 motor vehicle accidents last year. 25,676 of those wrecks were injury accidents. 748 people were killed and another 37, 255 were injured in these accidents. Compared to last year's statistics, the number of collisions with injuries was slightly lower, down to 25,811 accidents. The total injuries were 38,234 with fatalities of 796.
Jefferson Country, Louisville is accounts for 19.9% of the state total of accidents for the year 2010 or 29,384. There were 7,722 total injuries and 73 total fatalities from Jefferson Country wrecks.
Statistically there is no significant change in the number of accidents in Kentucky. Are campaigns working to promote safe driving? Thankfully most of these accidents are non-injury accidents. I would like to think if each of us take a moment to reflect on these statistics we could do better as a state in 2011.
Our deepest compassion is with those people in Kentucky who were injured or have lost the lives of their loved ones. Their lives have changed from the point of their accident. They have lost their way of transportation or maybe their job. Stress and depression are often the aftermath of a traumatic injury. As a personal injury attorney I hope 2011 will be a better year for motor vehicle accidents in Kentucky.
