$12 Million Dollar Case May Be Retried as a Result of Social Media-Kentucky Trial Attorney

$12 Million Dollar Case May Be Retried as a Result of Social Media-Kentucky Trial Attorney
Location:  Fayetteville, Arkansas
Issue: Juror in civil case in Arkansas posted messages about case during the trial

In Fayettville, Arkansas in a Ponzi  styled scheme two men invested in the company Stoam Holdings. Stoam Holding sells  Stoam which is  a material claiming to have the insulation qualities of foam but the strength of steel.  The case ended up going to trial and the two investors were awarded $12 million dollars.  A new trial has been requested by the owner of Stoam Holding due to information that has surfaced pertaining to one of the jurors.  Jurror Johnathan Powell had posted eight message on Twitter  during the trial about the trial. There has been no ruling yet.

I have told both of my teenaged daughters to be very careful about what they post on their social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc) The information they are publishing could be seen by people it is not intended for.  This case is a perfect example of how information posted and end up in the hands of people it was not intended for.  If it is not information you are comfortable with the world knowing just don’t post it!
